Some recent news regarding the club
Maypole Day
A big thanks to all those who helped with our involvement in the Maypole Day celebrations, Richard, Stephen, Glyn, Andrea, Keith and especially Mark who organised it all. It was a great success as not only did we make money, but we also raised awareness of the club amongst a great number of people who might want to join us in the future.
Mark relates one fine story of the day concerning a young lad called Daniel who scored 2 out of 5 in the "ball in the bin" competition which we ran. After persistence and perhaps a little cheekiness, Daniel persuaded us to award him with the prize of one of the tennis racquets. We found out later that he had been playing at South Leeds Stadium for some time but had always had to borrow a racquet as he didn't have one himself. We have made someone very happy there and it just could be that he is a club member of the future.
New Inn Tournament
This took place on Saturday 7th June, starting at 1.30pm. Congratulations to Sue WIlkinson and Jonny Miller who defeated Andrea Gililand and John Hayton in the final by the score of 6-3. There is a picture on the Club Competitions page.
Many thanks to Gary for sponsoring the event again this year. I think all competitors took advantage of the refreshments at the pub after the final, which goes to show that we are maintaining the social side of club activities as well as the competitive element.
